​Carolina Hearing Services at Daniel Island is in search of a Full-Time Audiology Assistant. Position available Immediately.  

Job description as follows:

  • provide hands-on technical assistance for in-house hearing aid repairs, maintenance, 
  • provide basic instruction to patients (battery use, insertion/removal of aids, wax trap changes, etc)
  • intake/send out hearing aid repairs and new orders
  • quality test incoming aids
  • coordinate schedule with audiologist to cover the back end of hearing aid fittings and re-programmings (e.g. finish the patient appointment with any basic instruction on care and maintenance, warranty info etc)
  • assist audiologist on any paperwork, equipment cleaning and maintenance, ordering parts and supplies
  • provide front-office support to answer phones, schedule appointments, do confirmations, intake new patient information
  • cover front office vacation time


The candidate does not need hearing aid experience. Experience working with older adults is a huge asset. Training to be provided by the audiologist, staff, and online course-work. Willingness to learn and train on-the-job and be flexible as job needs grow is essential. Willingness to cover both the front and back of the office is also essential.


Hourly wage and relocation package can be negotiated. Benefits will be available for full-time employees after 3 months of employment.

The Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina is recruiting a Research Associate to join our Hearing Research Program. The
Research Associate will contribute to the collection, maintenance, and analysis of data for
research projects in our Program that include adult human subjects of all ages. Other primary
responsibilities include recruitment and scheduling of research participants for these
experiments.


Participant Recruitment, Data Collection/Analysis, Laboratory Tasks:
 Determines participants’ eligibility for inclusion in an experiment.
 Operates, calibrates, and maintains basic laboratory equipment.
 Conducts basic audiological testing, cognitive screening tasks, and administers self-
assessment questionnaires. 
 Instructs study participants and runs protocols for experimental tasks (including tasks of
basic auditory perception and speech recognition). 
 Maintains confidentiality of study participants and their research results. Sets up and
manages experimental data spreadsheets and displays results.
 Maintains notebooks of laboratory protocols and procedures
Required and Preferred Skills:
 Excellent oral and written communication skills, organizational skills, and problem-
solving ability
 Proficient with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, and Powerpoint)
 Bachelor’s degree (minimum) in audiology, speech-language pathology, speech and
hearing sciences, psychology, engineering, or other related fields. Experience
conducting research with older adults without or with hearing loss is especially welcome.

Columbia Hearing Center, a division of ENT for Kids, LLC, is seeking a full-time pediatric audiologist to provide assessment, treatment, consultation and training to children with hearing loss and their families. The audiologist will provide clinical services to ENT for Kids (two providers: pediatric otolaryngologist and nurse practitioner) as well as private patients.


Daily tasks and responsibilities:

  • Establish rapport with and gather case history information, conduct audiometric testing including VRA, CPA, Conventional Audiometry, ABR testing (unsedated and sedated with Biologic and Vivosonic equipment), OAE testing, and immittance measurements, and make recommendations for management.
  • Hearing aid evaluations, fitting, dispensing and ordering as well as follow-up management.
  • Earmold and swimmold impressions and fitting.
  • Counsel patients and their families.
  • Work with Commercial, Medicaid and third-party payers with assistance from billing department.
  • Maintain business aspect of Columbia Hearing Center with assistance from billing department.

Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in Audiology or Au.D.
  • Experience working with pediatrics.
  • Experience fitting and dispensing hearing aids.
  • Current or eligible for South Carolina State license in Audiology.

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • The ability to prioritize and handle a high volume of patients.

Benefits:

  • Less than two year experience, starting salary is $55,000 with maximum of $65,000 per year

  • Clinic Hours: Monday-Thursday 8:30-4:30, Friday 8:30 to noon
  • 25% commission on hearing aid net profits. Average net profits; $8,000 per year once the
  • audiologist has been established.
  • Vacation – two weeks per year after the first full year of work.
